I think you're right about the similarity between english and chinese ancient language when it comes to verses or poems. I sometimes feel modern chinese is less powerful in expression, less neat and tend to be prolix 9 ^: g( O; C: k7 E" K0 u8 |8 V6 p4 n& Z7 \
